Analyzing to provide help: how YouScan data gives new opportunities in charity

Finding the audience is the core task for charities. At Future for Ukraine, we cover the topics that are often stigmatized and remain undisclosed in the media. We have the full potential of our team to reach our audience with targeted assistance, and the YouScan media monitoring platform consistently supports us in that purpose.

YouScan analytics — the basis for us to create educational content and set up advertising campaigns so that the information reaches exactly those who need it.

Based on the monitoring of online queries and mentions between August 24 and September 24, 2025, we gained deeper insight into the concerns of our audience, which social issues needed to be advocated, and which topics remain overlooked.

Medical Aid and Prosthetics

Location: Ukraine

  • “Amputation” — over 16,000 mentions

  • “A man lost his leg, what to do” — over 11,000 mentions

  • “Prosthetics” — over 13,500 mentions

  • “How to get a prosthesis” — over 4,500 mentions

The largest number of mentions related to “prosthetics” came from Facebook, with the audience being mostly women. The data shows that families affected by the war consequences do not have sufficient information and support, proving that this remains an important social issue to address.

Support for IDP Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Location: Ukraine

  • “ASD” — over 22,000 mentions

  • “Child doesn’t speak” — over 37,000 mentions

  • “Causes of ASD” — over 3,000 mentions

  • “ASD disease” — over 1,400 mentions

  • “Autists” — over 3,000 mentions

Most online searches related to “autism” focus on finding help and support. Many queries reveal a lack of understanding about barrier-free communication and the nature of autism spectrum disorders.

Also, about 2,000 users searched for phrases such as “How to live with ASD?”, “My child has autism,” and “Bullying of children with ASD.”
This suggests confusion and anxiety among parents facing an uncertain future for their child on the spectrum.

Psychological Support for Women during the war

Gender, location: Women, Ukraine

  • “Missing person” — over 88,000 mentions

  • “Husband in captivity” — over 7,500 mentions

  • “Help from a psychologist” — over 9,500 mentions

  • “Violence” — over 2,500 mentions

Many women are searching online for missing loved ones during the hostilities. There are also mentions related to violence, although the topic of sexual violence during the war remains largely taboo.

We see that women experiencing ambiguous loss often face emotional exhaustion and hopelessness. However, taking the first step toward getting help is hindered by social stigma, fear of judgment, and distrust in the effectiveness of support services.

Volunteers Search

Our defenders who arrive for prosthetic treatment often need immediate assistance — from meeting them at the train station to helping with daily needs.

Using YouScan, we found that the highest interest in volunteering comes from youth communities on Facebook and Telegram.
That’s why we created our own Telegram channel, where we post urgent requests.

If you have time and are ready to help, join the channel @future_forukraine.
There, we share real-time calls for assistance from the beneficiaries of the Future for Ukraine Foundation.
