Together with the specialists of the MCOP clinic, we continue to work on rehabilitating our soldiers. This month, two Ukrainian soldiers, Ivan Bolohov and Serhii Kovalskyi, began a prosthetics and rehabilitation program in the United States. 13.09 Arrival
Ukrainian defenders Ivan Bologov and Serhii Kovalskyi arrived in the United States for the first time and are now one step closer to receiving functional prostheses.
14.09 WASHINGTON UKRAINIAN FESTIVAL
The soldiers attended the WASHINGTON UKRAINIAN FESTIVAL, a celebration of unity and Ukrainian culture, where they met and spoke with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Ms. Oksana Markarova.
15.09 Getting to know Washington
A fascinating boat trip awaited the defenders. They explored the city and its surroundings and met with members of the Ukrainian diaspora in Washington.
16.09 Meeting the MCOP team
A long-awaited moment: the soldiers meet the prosthetists for the first measurements. Ivan and Serhii were examined by a physiotherapist and received individual rehabilitation programs.
17.09 Concert of the ‘Cultural Forces’ in the Ukrainian House
The defenders attended a concert by Ukrainian artists in Washington, DC. The event was part of an Appreciation Tour to thank the United States for its strong support and to emphasize the common values for which we continue to fight every day.
18.09 Setting out to recover
The soldiers had their first sessions with physiotherapists and their first successes. Serhii took his first steps on a new prosthesis and trained to keep balance on his own. We are proud of him!
19.09 Washington DC Walking Tour
For Ivan and Serhii, it was their first visit to the USA. The men did not miss the opportunity to learn more about the city. They walked around the sights of Washington, D.C., and saw pictures from films come to life: The White House, the Capitol, the US Supreme Court, the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial. The military also visited the Holodomor Memorial to Victims of the Ukrainian Famine-Genocide of 1932-1933.
