Prosthetics for Ukrainian soldiers Dmytro, Artem, and Vasyl in the United States. Digest 6.0

We continue to observe our defenders return to active life and are proud of every step they have taken in this direction! Dmytro, Artem, and Vasyl are on their way to recovery, actively working with physiotherapists and mastering new prostheses. In particular, Artem, who has dreamed of standing on his own feet for almost two years, has already taken his first steps with a new prosthesis, proving that even the most difficult challenges can be overcome!

During their rehabilitation in the United States, our defenders also took part in actions in support of Ukraine, because they know like no one else what we are fighting for every day and what the price is. Read more about the main events of the past week in the digest.

17.11 Demonstration for the release of prisoners of war

Our defenders’ daily routine during rehabilitation includes not only active recovery but also participation in events in support of Ukraine around the world. Together with representatives of the Third Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they supported the demonstration for the release of Azovstal prisoners held near the White House.

18.11 First steps

For the first time in almost two years, Artem took his first steps, on his own, with a new prosthesis. We are proud of him! Soldiers of the Third Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Kukharchuk, and his comrades came to support him and other defenders.

19.11 1000 days of full-scale war

Rehabilitating and learning to walk with prostheses is a difficult journey accompanied by discomfort, constant training, and prostheses adjustment. This week, our defenders have been working hard with prosthetists adjusting prosthetic cups to maximize comfort.

Dmytro, Artem and Vasyl participated in a demonstration near the White House to mark the 1000th day of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine as a part of an important cultural activities plan. They know better than anyone the price and importance of this fight.

20.11 The path to recovery

Active training continues. The defenders regularly work with physiotherapists and learn how to use their prostheses. Their desire to return to active life and the maximum effort they put into it is inspiring!

In particular, Artem tried walking on a treadmill for the first time with his new prosthesis and worked hard on balance exercises. This is extremely important for him, as he couldn’t stand independently for two years. He is happy and admits that the feeling of standing on his two again is incomparable!

Nowadays it is crucial to support those who defend our country and all of us. We are grateful to our donors, the MCOP clinic’s specialists who support and guide our defenders every step of the way, and the Pfizer Foundation, for the grant provided.
