The purpose
What's needed?
€5,000
This amount will help cover the cost of regular personalized psychological consultations for women, as well as supervision sessions for therapists within the psychological support program for 10 Ukrainian women, and also provide informational support for the “Gidna” program.
Why is it important?
One of the most difficult and painful experiences that Ukrainian families are going through because of the war is ambiguous loss. When a person is considered missing, and their loved ones have no information about whether they are alive or dead, it complicates the grieving process.
Ambiguous loss is a unique kind of loss that causes intense emotional turmoil and often contradictory feelings. Since there is no clear confirmation of death, hope remains — but so do frustration and ongoing grief.
Experiencing ambiguous loss can potentially lead to serious psychosomatic and psychological consequences for the health of those affected. The aim of the GIDNA program is to support women and provide them with psychological assistance to help them build inner resilience, so they can continue living and fulfilling their roles as mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, or partners. That is why psychological support is crucial.
Consultations are provided in a personalized manner. Our psychologists have many years of experience specifically in working with trauma related to ambiguous loss. They have received specialized training from Ruth Doron, a psychologist with the Israel Trauma Coalition, which specializes in trauma related to sexual violence and the mental health consequences of war.
