Indefinite loss: GIDNA announces a new women’s flow in Mykolaiv and the region for free psychological support on the project

The GIDNA project works every day to ensure that no woman is left alone with her pain! We are announcing a free participation in the project for women from Mykolaiv and the region whose relatives went missing or are in captivity, as a new group of assistance.

According to Artur Dobroserdov, the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, as of June 2025, approximately 70,000 people are still missing. This is not just a number. Behind each of them, there is a loved one and a family waiting, losing hope, and clinging to it again.

"The pain of waiting is often no less than the pain of loss. Women who live in the unknown every day do not allow themselves to be sad; they do not sleep at night, read between the lines of official responses, wait for a call, and dream, but fear at the same time. We are here to support them and help them regain their inner strength," says Anna Hrubaia, psychologist and curator of the GIDNA project.

The ‘Indefinite Loss’ program of the FFU’s GIDNA project has been operating for over a year. During this period, 45 women have applied for help, and 38 of them have already completed the psychological support course.

The GIDNA project's psychotherapists are a team of qualified professionals with many years of experience working with trauma. All of our specialists have received additional training from a colleague from the Israel Trauma Coalition, Ruth Dorum, who specializes in working with the trauma of sexual violence and the mental effects of war.

Each program participant will receive:

  • 16 individual online sessions with a psychologist;
  • group sessions (at the request of the program participant);
  • the opportunity to choose a specialist on their own;
  • complete anonymity (women's personal data are not disclosed)

This project was made possible thanks to the support of Dan Church Aid and Norwegian Church Aid in Ukraine (DCA-NCA) as part of the “Comprehensive Humanitarian Response for Conflict-Affected Ukrainians and Citizens of Other Countries in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, and Moldova” funded by the Auswärtige Amt in partnership with the Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe.

The program lasts from July 5 to September 30, 2025. Participation is free. The number of spots is limited: 20 participants. The GIDNA program is open to women over the age of 18 whose relatives are missing or in captivity.
