As of August 1, 245,000 internally displaced persons were officially registered in the Lviv region. Among them, there are almost 750 children with autism. They need help — systemic rehabilitation and socialization.
The Future for Ukraine Сharity Foundation plans to open a development center in Lviv for the rehabilitation and socialization of children with autism spectrum disorders. The team has already signed a lease agreement in a historical building with an area of 600 square meters.
Displaced children will have a priority in the hub — due to war and forced displacement, children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are under a lot of stress. It can seriously damage their psyche and cause years of developmental delay.
Such children will primarily receive free comprehensive development assistance under a specific program. Hub specialists will monitor and record the results of each child.
The program includes the following corrective classes: ABA therapy and PECS therapy, classes with a speech therapist and neuropsychologist, art therapy, sensory integration, adaptive physical education, kinesiotherapy, etc. In particular, game exercises are aimed at physical and emotional development, help in socialization, and increase the level of body control.
The Future for Ukraine Foundation plans to help 100 children with autism spectrum disorders per month.
The initial cost of the project (renovation, preparation for opening) will cost approximately $ 100,000. Also, almost $ 800,000 per month is needed to support the activity of the hub.
The patron of the project is Ukrainian businessman Vadym Stolar. We thank him for a great start! The foundation will do monthly fundraising for the operational activities of the center.
