Military attend the screening of Anton Ptushkin's film "We, Our Pets and War"

Travel blogger and TV presenter Anton Ptushkin's documentary "We, Our Pets and War" has already won thousands of Ukrainians’ hearts. The film covers the full-scale war in Ukraine from an unexpected angle — through the lives of animals, showing how they were rescued from locked apartments, and evacuated from shelled areas and how they supported people in difficult situations.

Our defenders, currently undergoing prosthetics in the United States, attended the film  screening at Landmark's E Street Cinema in Washington, DC. The film captivated and touched the military.

"The plot is very inspiring and shows the positive traits of Ukrainian people who despite numerous attacks and constant danger, are trying to save their furry friends. It demonstrates our values and that every life is important," said Vladyslav Kurilov, a soldier undergoing prosthetics at the MCOP clinic under the Prosthetics for Ukrainians program.

The film was followed by a Q&A session with Anton Ptushkin, during which the audience can thank him for his work and ask questions about the film's creation. As the film's author notes:

"Usually, during the war, everyone makes documentaries about people and their stories. We decided to show it from the other side. We were making a film about animals, but it turned out to be a film about people. And the main inspiration for its creation was the photographs of Ukrainian refugees fleeing with cats and dogs."

On behalf of our defenders and the FFU team, we are thankful for the invitation to this touching and important film screening! And as one of the film's protagonists said, "We need to save animals to remain human." So, let us remain human in any situation!
