From January 25 to 27, at the Steward Health Care Malta clinic, Professor Robert Gailey conducted a series of training for physiotherapists who will help our soldiers recover.
Robert Gailey has taught in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Miami for over 35 years. He was a special advisor to the US Department of Defense on amputee rehabilitation and continues to work with military and veterans.
During the training, the professor talked about exercises and procedures that speed up the return of patients to a fulfilling life and explained how to improve the capabilities of the prosthesis. The effectiveness of Gailey's methods was demonstrated by the Ukrainian military — they performed all the tasks perfectly, and in the end, shocked everyone with the fact that they managed to score a ball with prostheses. And that's just for a day of practice!
The attending doctors agreed that the motivation of the Ukrainian military to return to an active life as soon as possible played a huge role here. Thanks to this training, physical therapists improve their skills and provide more qualified assistance to our defenders. In this way, they recover faster.
