Recently, Senator Tammy Duckworth visited our defenders undergoing prosthetics in Washington, DC. She is a veteran of the US war in Iraq and lost both legs and partial sensation in her right arm as a result of the injury. However, this did not stop her from becoming a senator of Illinois in 2017!
Tammy shared her story of injury and amputation with the Ukrainian military. It was an extremely inspiring and warm conversation — the soldiers asked what it was like to live with prostheses for almost 20 years, and the senator shared some tips for handling daily routine better. Everyone laughed and talked a lot. Tammy supported the men, encouraged them, and urged them to find the strength to rebuild Ukraine! Defence Attaché of Ukraine to the USA, Borys Kremenetskyi, and Senior Assistant Defense Attaché Oleksandr Rozhkov, also attended the meeting. They also talked with our military men and thanked them.
We sincerely thank special guests for their kind words and support of the Ukrainian people!
