The second week of prosthetics and rehabilitation of three Ukrainian heroes in Washington

Ukrainian military personnel Dmytro Sklyarenko and Oleksandr Drobatyuk took their first steps with prostheses outside the clinic in the second week of rehabilitation! Our team helps them adapt to the new realities of life and carry out daily household tasks. Currently, the main goal of our military is to master prostheses so well that they become a complete  replacement for lost limbs.

We welcome the opportunity to be with our brave military in Washington. To be strong support for them when their relatives are far away. To see first-hand their stunning successes during rehabilitation and sincere emotions. And to understand that the foundation made every effort to do so. Please, read about the first week of our military's stay in Washington in the digest.

"Flight is normal": our guys tried themselves as pilots in an airplane simulator. The code name for this training was "How to steal an enemy plane."

Meanwhile, training under the supervision of a rehabilitator in the clinic takes place almost every day. Therefore, during each class, Dmytro, Oleksandr, and Serhiy should listen to their bodies and report any discomfort to the specialists. Prostheses can be adjusted during the entire rehabilitation process because the most important thing is that the guys "make friends" with them and feel as comfortable as possible.

The foundation's team makes every effort to create a festive mood for Dima, Sasha, and Sergiy. Sometimes it doesn't take much at all. For example, make new hairstyles. The masters at the Lucky Bastards barbershop did a great job with this task. Both the men and we liked the result.

The atmosphere of joy and celebration captured the specialists and patients of the MCOP clinic. Even pre-Christmas training looks especially warm and cozy.

We have already mentioned that the clinic admires the boys' progress. And here is another confirmation. In the second week of rehabilitation, our soldiers took their first steps with prostheses outside the clinic! Together with the team, they went shopping at the supermarket.

Also, Dmytro and Oleksandr, and the foundation's volunteer Olya, got identical tattoos. It is the contour of the state border of Ukraine — whole, independent, ours!

Christmas is always about a little miracle, warmth of unity, and a family atmosphere. And even thousands of kilometers from the Motherland, we tried to recreate this feeling for the men.

We celebrated the holiday together in the best American traditions. We opened presents and also organized a great dinner with traditional American, Ukrainian, and Brazilian dishes.

Bright impressions inspire and motivate new achievements. That's why we took the boys on an excursion to New York. At first, the largest city in the USA amazes by its active rhythm of life, but soon we fully immersed ourselves in this atmosphere and enjoyed the beauty of the metropolis. Also, that day, we met with the guys who came to New York for prosthetics.

On the FFU website, we have launched a fundraiser to send Ukrainian soldiers to Malta for prosthetics and rehabilitation in 2023.

Help our heroes return to normal life! Contribute to the Prosthetics for the military in Malta case.
