Future for Ukraine Foundation organized a rehabilitation event for psychological assistance to men

For the first time, the Future for Ukraine Foundation organized a rehabilitation event "Psychological assistance to men who suffered from violence during the war with the russian federation on the territory of Ukraine". It lasted four days, from October 31 to November 3, in Uzhhorod.

As a result of russia's invasion of Ukraine, cases of violence increased, affecting not only women but also children and men. With the support of donors, FFU has been able to expand its capacity to help. The purpose of the first event for men was to rehabilitate and help those who were in captivity or lived in the occupied territories and experienced or witnessed violence at the hands of the occupiers.

For four days, 10 male participants of different ages and from different parts of Ukraine received help from qualified psychologists. Everyone had the opportunity to share their stories, be heard, and take the first step on the way to overcoming trauma and recovery with the support of the group and professionals.

During and after a traumatic experience, survivors experience a range of physical, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and relational responses that can make them feel unbalanced and threatened. Working with men FFU psychologists used a multicomponent trauma-focused approach to help survivors build resilience. Group interventions were focused on reducing post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms and anxiety in people with complex trauma.

It was equally important for the men to tell their stories and to learn about the similar experiences of others in a safe environment and with the support of specialists.

We are grateful to the Veteran Coalition International (USA) for a grant of 3,050 $ and the opportunity to hold the event! We continue to help and support everyone who needs it.
