Every woman deserves a better future, where trauma no longer determines her life.
For the second year in a row, the Future for Ukraine Foundation has been helping Ukrainian women overcome the mental consequences of russia’s brutal military aggression against Ukraine and urging women not to be left alone with their pain.
Never betraying the principles of GIDNA — anonymity, safety, professionalism — we have been moving step by step and gaining the Ukrainian women’s trust and our partners’ loyalty. In 2024, we scaled up our activities in the Helping Women direction:
- Launched a new program of psychological assistance to women experiencing an uncertain loss;
- Expanded the GIDNA team from 10 to 26 qualified specialists;
- Gained the trust of more women and helped them improve their emotional state and psychological resilience.
Over 94% of women who sought help from the GIDNA project successfully completed a therapy session course.
Assistance for CRSV survivors (conflict-related sexual violence)
- 49 Ukrainian women underwent a free therapy course with a specialist that helped them regain lost pillars in life, learn to work with their own emotional states caused by the trauma of violence and feel their own value again.
- There are 300 individual and 20 group sessions.
- GIDNA specialists received 37 professional supervisions.
Activities to disseminate information and advocate for the CRSV topic:
- The FFU team participated in the My Sisters International Forum on the topic of post-traumatic growth of women affected by gender-based violence and sexual violence during the war.
- Together with opinion leaders, we launched the social initiative ‘Ty Gidna!’ that calls women not to remain silent about experiencing sexual violence.
- On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we held a series of educational broadcasts with CSO La Strada-Ukraine and the VETERANKA movement.
- Signed a memorandum with the NGO New Ukrainian Narratives.
Psychological assistance to women who are experiencing an indefinite loss — their relatives went missing in the war or are in captivity.
- 28 women completed a free psychological therapy course which includes 208 individual sessions and 40 group sessions.
