The FFU team visited Odesa to deliver humanitarian aid to volunteers

10.05.2023

Last week, our team went to Odesa with humanitarian aid at the request of the public organization Military Historical Center “Memory and Glory”, which works on the humanitarian project of the headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, “On the Shield”.

For more than 15 years, the organization's representatives have been searching for fallen heroes and handing over their remains to their families so that they could say goodbye to them and bury their loved ones with dignity. At first, their activities were focused on the recovery of the remains of fallen soldiers in the Second World War, and after 2014, and later in 2022, they began to look for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the soldiers of the 40s XX century who died at the hands of soldiers the invading russian army.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the organization has already carried out 7 expeditions: to the Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions. Project missions last from two weeks to a month. Often in field conditions or places where the infrastructure is destroyed, so there is a great need for dry rations and long-term storage products.

Serhiy Sudnik, head of the Military Historical Center, “Memory and Glory”, says that such work requires a lot of resources. “There is a need for life in the field, like food. We have a lot of people on the team and provide them. There are volunteers, searchers, and military personnel who are in other locations with no food supply. Everything associated with our work is needed in volumes that will allow us to provide dozens of searchers who work along the entire demarcation line, the front, in the de-occupied territories. And these are thousands of kilometers and big expeditions still ahead,” said Serhiy Volodymyrovych, who has been working a volunteer for more than 10 years.

That is why only after receiving a request from the search group "Memory and Glory", we involved our partners Revival Foundation Washington DC, who have been helping Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale war and pay great attention to social initiatives. “Food for Good” by the Revival Foundation Washington DC is a socio-economic project that supports the frontline regions in the supply of sublimated food for the military on the front line, the supply of food kits to the de-occupied territories, and orphanages. Revival Foundation provided us with the products from which we assembled the kits. It included: freeze-dried food from the healthy food store ЇDLO, cereals and cereals, canned vegetables, stewed meat, sweets, coffee, and tea. And to support the health of searchers, dietary supplements and vitamins from NutraStar were added to the sets. The total weight of the aid was almost 2 tons!

The provided help will come in handy very soon because shortly volunteer searchers will go to the Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions, where active hostilities continue today.

We are very grateful that we have reliable partners, and together we can help with the extremely important mission of the search parties. Our task is to provide them with regular support and help so that these strong-willed people can continue to do their work.
