Looking back on 2025, we can confidently say that it was a year of systematic prosthetics program development and its tangible, meaningful results.
The status of an official Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider, an international grant from the Government of Iceland and EMBLA MEDICAL HF, new adaptation and recovery programs for people with limb loss, as well as consistent support from partners and patron Vadym Stolar, made it possible to expand assistance to Ukrainians who are currently undergoing a complex recovery after limb loss.
In 2025, the Future for Ukraine Foundation received over USD 11.6 million in grant funding, more than UAH 2.2 million in donations, and UAH 4.4 million in partner contributions to the Medical direction.
The Foundation provided prosthetic care and recovery services to 55 Ukrainian defenders and 2 civilians affected by the war, for UAH 9,525,055.
- Together with our partners at Medical Center Orthotics & Prosthetics Ukraine, we launched a specially designed Gait adaptation and optimization program for people using prosthetics, aimed at helping patients move more confidently and efficiently. The first participants in the program, supported by the Future for Ukraine Foundation, were servicemen of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- In June 2025, the FFU team held the second charity run, Go to the Future, which brought together more than 1,500 participants in support of defenders who lost limbs in the war and are undergoing complex prosthetic recovery. Among the participants of Go to the Future 2025 — active-duty service members, veterans using prosthetics and wheelchairs, public figures, opinion leaders, representatives of Ukrainian businesses, as well as teams from the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the National Police of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service, the National Guard, and everyone for whom sport is also a way to support others.
- In 2025, the Future for Ukraine Foundation obtained official status as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider in the healthcare sector. This enables us to conduct training activities for medical professionals awarded with CPD credit points in accordance with the current requirements of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
- On September 19–20, Future for Ukraine, together with Medical Center Orthotics and Prosthetics (USA) and PT EDUCATION LLC (USA), conducted training for Ukrainian prosthetists and rehabilitation specialists — a two-day course on upper-limb prosthetics for complex levels of amputation, including shoulder disarticulation and extremely short transhumoral residual limbs. The U.S. leading experts led the training: upper-limb prosthetist Jamie Vandersea and Doctor of Physical Therapy and practicing physical therapist Farhad Ostovari. All participants received certificates and 26 CPD credits, while veterans had the opportunity to test a bionic hand developed by the Ukrainian manufacturer Esper Bionics.
- Olena Nikolaienko, President of Future for Ukraine USA, presented the Foundation’s achievements in the field of prosthetics for Ukrainians at the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States. During the meeting, representatives of MCOP, Ambassador Oksana Markarova, Defense Attaché Major General Borys Kremenetskyi, and Colonel Oleksandr Rozhkov, along with participants, discussed the importance of expanding access to effective prosthetic and rehabilitation solutions for Ukrainian veterans and implementing international standards in this field.
The Foundation also purchased and delivered medical supplies for the treatment of military personnel and civilians affected by the russian armed aggression to the Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise “Kyiv City Medical Center,” including:
- Braunodin 7.5% topical solution — 40 packages;
- Prontosan wound irrigation solution — 200 packages.
These medicals are used for wound care and treatment and are significant for patients with burn injuries and severe wounds. The total value of the delivered supplies amounted to UAH 206,174.
- In November, the Future for Ukraine Foundation received a USD 11.6 million grant from the Government of Iceland and EMBLA MEDICAL HF to provide prosthetic care for Ukrainian military personnel and civilians. The goal of the project Iceland Supports Mobility in Ukraine is to provide functional lower-limb prosthetics to 1,000 Ukrainians over the next three years. - Olena Nikolaienko, President FFU in the USA, also spoke at an open discussion for veterans titled “Life After Injury: How to Find New Meaning Through Work”, held as part of the monthly support group for people with limb loss at the MCOP Ukraine center. She conducted a practical workshop focused on how to prepare a CV and present one’s strengths during a job interview, even when prior experience is limited to military service.
