On October 29, International Caregivers Day, LEVCHYK SPECTRUM HUB hosted a friendly meeting with parents of lion cubs to support families raising children with ASD.
Children on the spectrum need even more support, attention, and patience. For parents, despite their immense love, this is a big pressure. Therefore, it is extremely important to learn to better understand your child and be able to restore your own psychological and physical state. To discuss issues that concern parents and provide much-needed support, a friendly meeting with parents, psychologists, and methodologists was held at the LEVCHYK SPECTRUM HUB.

At the meeting, parents were introduced to the hub's new methodologist, Khrystyna Tkach, who has extensive experience working with children on the spectrum. Khrystyna shared how important it is to involve parents in the educational and therapeutic process and how this affects the child's progress.
The meeting was joined by partners of LEVCHYK SPECTRUM HUB — Maysternia Doviry. The specialists conducted a session on resource techniques for parents, and exercises called ‘Safe Place’ and ‘Inner Advisor’ in a friendly atmosphere. They shared the ‘Safe’ practice for working through unpleasant emotions, fatigue, and worries.
The event closed group therapy with psychologist Natalia Prysiazhniuk. “We talked with parents about topics that really concern them: self-help, how to maintain their own resources, and recover under constant stress. I believe that every mother was able to feel support, see that she is not alone, and find new ways to take care of herself," Natalia comments.
Olha Hliuza, head of the FFU’s “Help Children” direction.Parents raising a child with ASD are incredibly resilient and strong people, because at the hub, we see how difficult it is for them to find an approach to their child every day and how much strength it takes. We have single-parent families where the mother raises the child alone without help. Families that are raising two children on the spectrum. I admire their endurance and patience. I see our common task as caring not only for the children, but also for their parents. After all, who else but them needs support and care.”
LEVCHYK SPECTRUM HUB is a safe space that provides support and help not only for lion cubs, but also for their families. We are grateful to everyone who supports the hub — thanks to you, both parents and children receive the help, warmth, and sense of confidence in the future that is so important to them.
